What is the Cemeteries Service?
The Cemeteries Service has responsibility for:
- Maintaining statutory records relating to burials
- Providing information regarding location of graves and dates of burials
- Co-ordinating the service between Funeral Director and Cemetery staff
- Allocating grave spaces, location of spaces for re-use, reserved grave purchases and the booking of the Cemetery Chapel
- Approval of memorials and added inscriptions
- Organising the purchase of memorial benches
- Organising the entries for the Book of Remembrance
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council have responsibility for Ashby Road Cemetery, Hinckley.
Cemetery maintenance and maintenance of closed churchyards (St Mary's Church in Hinckley, Holy Trinity Church in Hinckley, St Mary's Church in Barwell, Unitarian Chapel in Hinckley, St Michael's of all Angels in Markfield, Baptist Church in Earl Shilton, United Reformed Church in Earl Shilton, St. Simon & St. Judes Parish Church in Earl Shilton) is carried out by:
