Bob Knight Paintings
Welcome Bob Knight (now retired) was not allowed to study art as a young man. Instead he trained as an Engineer. Having retired early through ill health, he has rediscovered his artistic skill. He is involved in the voluntary sector in Leicestershire, helping others to express themselves through painting and woodcarving. Now that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease he has even more insight into the need for people to express themselves through art and creativity. Bob works mainly in watercolours, using small brushes, and enjoys the discipline that is required to succeed in this demanding aspect of this art form. The most popular of his paintings are his accurate depictions of celebrated steam trains (noted for their accuracy); his many canvases of local scenes of the Ashby canal through the seasons, and in differing light; and portraits of favourite flowers. Bob is in the fortunate position that he does not face the pressures of other artists who are struggling to make a living from their work. On the contrary, knowing how much relief and release he finds in painting, he wishes to encourage everyone else to become, like him, a proficient amateur. It is still something of an embarrassment, but also a great pleasure, that family, friends, and, increasingly, members of a wider public, wish to purchase his paintings. |
